Il s'agit d'une de mes séries coup de coeur chez dark horse, la premiere mini serie est sortie en fin d'année dernière et si vous tombez dessus je vous conseille le détour car c'est de la bombe aussi bien au scenario qu'au dessin. La 1ere serie a été récompensée par des nombreux prix (voir le post sur les eisner awards 2008) et par wizard comme meilleure mini serie !!!

J'avais entendu parler de la première mini mais je sais plus du tout de quoi ça parle!

c'est l'histoire d'un homme d'affaire (un alien en fait) qui décide d'adopter des enfants aux capacités exceptionnelles qui deviendront plus tard des super héros. Ils sont au nombre de 7. Des années plus tard à la mort de ce dernier ils se réunissent de nouveau pour sauver le monde mais on découvre très rapidement que de nombreux secrets entourent les différents membres de cette équipe.

n°1 : après un accident, sa tête a été greffé sur un corps de gorille (force et résistance)
n°2 : il peut retenir son souffle indéfiniment et manie très bien les armes blanches
n°3 : tout ce qu'elle annonce devient vrai
n°4 : il peut parler avec les morts, léviter et à des pouvoirs de télékinésie
n°5 : il peut se téléporter dans le temps
n°6 : décédé
n°7 : n'a encore démontré aucune capacité

Interresant.
je me renseignerais sur cette serie.

While Spaceboy watches reality TV and Number Five lies low in a seedy motel, a threat against the Umbrella Academy begins to rouse the team, who've been rather uninspired since the catastrophic events from 2007's best-selling Apocalypse Suite. Only one member of the team understands the danger that lies ahead‹the massacre in Costello's Diner has raised some suspicions of what's happened, and what's to come. At the heart of this, the Umbrella Academy feels the loss of Pogo, the chimp that had held them together since childhood, and resort to remedies that won't help, and, sadly, won't cure boredom.

Clare Boothe Luce, Republican congresswoman, ambassador, and playwright, was the daughter of unmarried violinist and deserter Wm. Franklin Boothe. (The Umbrella Academy does not approve of the term "illegitimate child." Every child is legitimate; it's some parents we find to be lacking.) Through her varied career, she took on communism, sexism, and Nazism. When her friend, actress and legendary suicide Dorothy Hale, threw herself from the sixteenth floor of New York City's Hampshire House, Luce compelled art goddess Frida Kahlo to paint the shocking El Suicidio de Dorothy Hale. In 1953, President Eisenhower named Luce ambassador to Italy. When she met Pope Pius XII, Luce, ignoring America's own ethic about separation of church and state, explained the Church's moral requirement to be tougher on communism. Pope Pius replied, "You know, Mrs. Ambassador, I am a Catholic, too." Seven years later, the United States would elect its first Catholic president
